An Ode to Parents – Yachika Saini
July 19, 2017 0 By Yachika SainiWe all have friends, colleagues, siblings, relatives, boyfriend/girlfriend maybe, and many other people close to us in our day to day life. People around us who make us feel happy. We end up making friends wherever we go. We spend time with them, talking and enjoying their company. We also have people we don’t like surrounding us like our boss or at times some teacher, etc., where it becomes mandatory to smile and be good. Even if we don’t want to talk to them. And then there are enemies or the people we hate.
Now coming to the best relationship, parents. You must be wondering, why I am talking about parents after all these people. That’s because this blog is going to be only about parents and we have endless thoughts and stories about our parents unlike the relations or people mentioned above.
Starting from the day that we get exposed to the outside world, our parents are the people who brought us in this world and they are the ones who have the authority to do anything and everything with us. In the beginning, they were the ones who made us play in sand and make friends. When kids grow up they start losing the importance of the presence of their parents. This happened with me and my friends and almost happens with everybody else. It nearly happens when we are a teenager. That moment we find ourselves a grown up.
As and when we move on and start touching our 20’s, we get to see the reality of the world around us. When we start going to college, or go for jobs, and start understanding the people around us. Every friend you have gets busy in their own lives. You break up with people and things. You no longer feel the same way you used to when you were surrounded by people. This is the moment you realize the importance of your parents. You feel the need for people and there is no body but your parents who are still there like the first day in this world.
Parents, it’s nearly impossible to put your heart out in some words or paragraphs. It will always be less for their greatness.
No matter what happens, they will never leave you and help you out in the best possible way. They will give you the love and importance that is more than sufficient to survive. Once I was really feeling alone. So I called one of my friend, who recently shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. I told her about how left out I felt, she asked me where I was, I said I was home. Again she asked me, “are your parents’ home?”, I said “yes, they are home.” She was living in a hostel and without her parents. It was that moment that made me realize all for it. She knew the importance as she did not have her parents.
Parents are just like the basic need, a default in our life like water, food and oxygen.
To all those who are reading this, it’s never too late.
